Watches have become more than a hobby, they are now a part of my life. A few years ago I bought my first watch, a Timex Weekender. Looking back it was such a cheap and simple watch. Yet now, I understand the value of it. Not the price of it, but the value. I bought it for under $50 but I would be willing to pay much more for it if I new the impact it would have on starting this journey.
That first watch made me appreciate the craftmanship and fine detail in each watch. I now have five watches and am always looking and dreaming about buying more. With each watch I am willing to pay more, but I understand now that the price of a watch is meaningless. What matters is the impact that watch has on me. What matters is how the watch makes me feel. I no longer wear watches to show off to other people, I wear them because I respect them. I realize I am still very new to watches and there is a lot more for me to learn and a lot more mistakes I will make when buying future watches. I know my tastes will change but I also know my love of watches will not. The first few watches I bought will always hold a special place in my heart and will always find a place on my wrist.
